Kasaysayan ng Paaralan

              The Eduardo A. Barretto Sr. National High School is a general high school located in Barangay Pansol, Calamba City. It is sprawling in a 4,500-square-meter lot donated by Mr. Edmundo F. Kaimo. Mr. Rodolfo M. Pisigan Sr., considered the founder, initiated the founding of the school in collaboration of the Barangay Council headed by then Mr. Leonardo Cuevas Sr., Barangay Captain. They met to thresh out the needed paper requirements for opening the school. Sometime in the first quarter of 1972, the school was born bearing the name of Eduardo A. Barretto Sr. Memorial School with 64 enrollees. The class schedule was from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

 

            The pioneer teachers handling the subjects came from the Eduardo A. Barretto Sr. Elementary School. They served as part time teachers. The legal ground of the school’s existence was anchored under the Barrio Charter. Mr. Rodolfo M. Pisigan Sr., being the principal of Eduardo A. Barretto Sr. Elementary School then, became the first assistant principal as provided under the provisions of the Barrio Charter. Now later, Mr. Pisigan was promoted to other school. Mr. Felix Apigo took over the helm and acted as assistant principal. It was during Mr. Apigo’s time that the school turned out its first batch of graduates of only 23. Mr. Apigo retired from the service after serving more than five years. He was replaced by Mrs. Hilaria Molinyawe who came from other school.

 

              After more than three years, Mrs. Molinyawe was promoted to other school. Mrs. Alicia V. Llamas got the position vacated by Mrs. Molinyawe. Mrs. Llamas stayed longer than any other assistant principals. When Mrs. Llamas was promoted, Mrs. Irlanda Morales took over the vacant post until the appointment of Mr. Ernesto D. Lindo as Teacher Incharge in 1988. Mr. Lindo is the longest school head who served the school, starting from Teacher Incharge to Principal I. After serving more or less 24 years as school administrator, Mr. Lindo was promoted to Principal II of Calamba Bayside National High School. Mrs. Casimira G. Reyes became the principal after his promotion. Mrs. Reyes retired from the service on Nov 1, 2012. She was succeeded by Dr. Mariliza T. Espada, who also become the Principal of Camp Vicente Lim National High School, located in Brgy. Canlubang, Calamba City. Head Teacher I Jesus A. Mauhay was appointed by the Division of Calamba City to be the Officer in Charge from November 2015 to October 2017. He was succeeded by Mr. Florentino A. Lara who becomes the school principal from October 2017 to August 2019. Mr. Lara was former Senior Education Program Specialist of the Division of Calamba City. He was succeeded by Mr. William B. Bartolome, it was during Mr. Bartolome's leadership that school received its ISO certification. He was the principal from August 2019 to June, 2020 as he was transferred to a much bigger school, the Punta Integrated School. Mrs. Imee P. Aldea become the school principal from June, 2020 to May, 2021. It was during this time that the school, along with the rest of the world was challenged by the Covid 19 Pandemic. The school is in full implementation of the K + 12 Curriculum and is currently updated the BE-LCP of the DepEd as answer to the challenges that is still brought by the Covid 19. The school is currently headed by Mrs. Charito V. Bernas, together with an a formidable number of qualified and effective teachers. 

 

               The school is composed of 8 school buildings, 35 classrooms (two are intended for computer room and Library), Principal’s Office, Guidance Office, School Canteen, 6 Learning Centers (English, Science, Math, A.P and TLE), TLE Laboratory, and a covered court. The immediate clientle of EBSrNHS are the residents of Barangay Pansol and Bucal for it is situated between these two barangays. Because of its accessibility and location of the school, other nearby barangays benefited from the school.
